Jon Pye
Director
Jon has had a passion for sports since he was 5 years old and has dedicated his career to athletics. A junior and senior high athlete of the year, Jon has always enjoyed all sports & competition of any kind. His sport of choice however is basketball, where he began coaching his first team at the age of 16. He now has over 15 years of experience in the field, developing thousands of players across the province.
Jon’s coaching career began with the Steve Nash Youth Basketball Program and the YMCA back in 2006. Jon was the Vice President of the St. John’s Amateur Basketball Association for several years and was also hired as the league’s first ever Executive Director back in 2015-2016.
Jon graduated with a Bachelor of Recreation Degree from Memorial University in 2015. He is the Director of Operations for Rock Sports Academy Inc. and also acts as Camp Director. Jon has experience working with Point Guard College; one of the most prestigious basketball camps in North America. Jon has worked with Toronto Raptors Legend, Morris Peterson & the Dunk for Diabetes initiative with SunLife Financial. Jon has worked with the NLBA Provincial & Canada Games Programs & was an Assistant Coach with the Men’s Memorial University Sea-Hawks for 3 seasons.
One of Jon’s core pillars is continuous improvement and education; both in his development as a coach and development of the players that he works with. He is continuously taking part in coaching courses and has completed the following NCCP Basketball Coaching Courses so far:

- Level 1 (Learn to Train) Certified
- Level 2 (Train to Train)
